April is National Volunteer Month: How to Make the Most of this Month?

Finding a meaningful cause to volunteer with isn’t easy for everyone. Some of us choose an organization that helps benefit a cause that affected someone we love, or we stumble upon a particular non-profit through a friend, family member or internet. For Rod, after his daughter Michelle’s death, volunteering was a way for him to help families dealing with the same pain. Michelle was just 18-years-old when she rolex day date mens 118206 36mm president bracelet passed away from Leukemia. After her passing, Rod has dedicated a lot of time to volunteering and helping the following organizations raise money for research.

April is National Volunteer Month, so we highlighted three organizations that are very dear to Rod’s heart, and may resonate with you.

American Heart Association

If someone you know has been affected by heart disease or stroke, you may consider joining the 40 million volunteers supporting the American Heart Association. For over 100 years, their organization has been dedicated to one day having a world free of heart disease and stroke – the number one and two causes of death globally. The American Heart Association is saving lives every day and are actively looking for volunteers.

To honor the Carews’ wish to raise awareness and prevention for heart disease, the Minnesota Twins began The Heart of 29 campaign! As part of the awareness, you can support Rod with the annual Twin Cities Heart Walk on Saturday, May 22!

Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) offers many different ways to get involved and truly make a difference in the lives of those impacted by cancer. LLS is a global leader working to find a cure for leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and rolex datejust 116200pso uomo rolex calibre 2836 2813 hands and markers myeloma. With the help of their volunteers, they also improve the quality of life of those fighting these diseases.

A great way to get involved is with their annual “Light The Night” walk. This year the event will take place on October 2nd at Angel Stadium! Funds from the walk go directly to treatments that are saving the lives of patients.

Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation

Based in Irvine, California, the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation is a leader in identifying and funding cutting-edge research to eliminate childhood cancer. For those based in Orange County, PCRF could always use support with events and at their office.

Throughout this month, we encourage you to research and find an organization that you can see yourself volunteering for the rest of the year. Hundreds of non-profits and foundations depend on volunteers like you to keep making a difference in our communities.

Part of Rod’s involvement with PCRF is the annual golf tournament. For 25 years, the tournament has raised millions of dollars for pediatric cancer research. You can join our elite lineup of sponsors and make a dramatic impact for the most-deserving cancer population – children.
